For the last 8 weeks, I have been sick. Most days, it's just a slight feeling of nausea, and a minor headache. Some days, though, the symptoms are much, much, worse. On those days, the headache is severe, enough to affect my vision, concentration, and balance. Along with this severe head pain comes a greater feeling of nausea. On the worse days, any sound of any moderate volume causes shooting pains in my head like someone is plunging an icepick into my ear. My physician initially thought these symptoms were caused by acid reflux, and prescribed medication co cure the problem. After taking the drugs for 2 weeks, I still had the symptoms. So, back to the doctor I go, and he gives me a referral to an ear, nose, and throat specialist. Those of you who know me well probably already know I have an history of ear problems, so this is a suggestion that has some merit. Well, I saw the specialist today, 3 weeks after the referral (the soonest an appointment could be made...), and after an examination and an hearing test, the doctor determines that my hearing is good, and there doesn't seem to be anything wrong in my ears that might cause the symptoms I am experiencing. Great. Back to square one, diagnosis wise. Meanwhile, I've used up all my available sick time and vacation time, so any additional time I miss will be unpaid. I can only hope that the symptoms go away on their own, because I really can't spend anymore time out of work for this...

I've learned that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is stalk them and hope they panic and give in.
